Which Canadian climate policies will have the biggest impact by 2030?

March, 2024

Summary

The Canadian Climate Institute (CCI) commissioned Navius to simulate the impact of eight individual federal Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP) policies in 2030. Each policy was simulated on top of a baseline scenario and together with the full ERP policy package to quantify the range in emissions reductions attributable to each policy. The analysis found that the industrial carbon pricing system has the greatest impact on emissions in 2030, responsible for 20-48% of total reductions. The below insight from CCI outlines key findings from the modeling.
