Informing the development of Our Clean Future: a Yukon strategy for climate change, energy and a green economy
September, 2020
Summary
Our Clean Future is a package of policies announced by the Government of Yukon. It is a strategy to address climate change, energy and a green economy through 2030. A link to their plan can be found here (https://yukon.ca/our-clean-future). Navius worked closely with the Government of Yukon to forecast how Our Clean Future will influence greenhouse gas emissions and economic activity in Yukon.
Highlights:
- The Government of Yukon has announced Our Clean Future, a package of policies to address climate change, energy and a green economy.
- Policies include zero emission vehicle standards and subsidies, heat pump and bioenergy incentives, and renewable electricity standards.
- Yukon has set a target of a 30% reduction in “non-mining” greenhouse gas emissions below 2010 levels, by 2030. Our Clean Future closes 77% of the gap between the existing policy forecast and Yukon’s target.
