Options for Canada’s 2035 Emissions Reduction Target

September, 2024

Summary

The Net-Zero Advisory Body (NZAB) asked the Canadian Climate Institute (CCI) to evaluate credible options for a 2035 emissions reduction target for Canada. This target should be an achievable next step after the current 2030 target (of 40%-45% below 2005 levels) and should be in line with Canada’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050. CCI commissions Navius to assess a range of possible 2035 emissions targets, evaluated based on key criteria determined in collaboration with CCI. The below insight and technical annex outline key findings from the modeling.
